Attitude of Gratitude

March 4, 2010

I recently listened again to the audio CD of “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and suddenly a few new things stood out to me that I hadn’t noticed before.

Jack Canfield, author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul” mentions having an ‘attitude of gratitude’ and that it’s quite simply a large part of the key to the Law of Attraction.  And it dawned on me:  I won’t get the house on the beach in San Diego if I’m constantly embittered by the fact that I’m still in Tucson in a house that wasn’t built properly when we bought it as a new construction home.  I have to change my own attitude around, from being discontent with my location, and angry about the construction of this house, simply to an attitude of gratitude for A.) Living in the first place, B.) Having more time in the city where my family is, C.) Having a house at all, D.) having the opportunity to own a home on the outskirts of Tucson where I can see a gazillion stars at night and enjoy stunning up-close mountain views and desert life – and I can be grateful for all the other multitudinous things that I have to be grateful for.

So, as I am even continuing to work on my own shortcomings, I urge you to look at things in a new light. Be grateful for things you might even be angry about (like the leaky roof… because it’s on your home and you can be grateful for that!).  You might have to stretch, and that’s okay.  Actually, it’s more than okay, it’s good to stretch because it means growth.
