Veteran’s Day is an Important Day

November 11, 2010

I’d like to personally thank every United States Veteran for serving our country.

Today is an important day and too often it’s overlooked as simply a day the kids don’t go to school and the mail doesn’t come. But it’s a lot more than that! In some places, however there are wonderful picnics and other festivities in honor of the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

But I think at the heart of it is the fact that no matter what we do, whether it’s our normal activities or have a day of fun, today is a day to remember how it is that we have this life and who it is that has really enabled it for us from the beginning of United States history to now, there are men and women who have fought and some have died for our freedom. Some have come home and they have been welcomed with hugs and kisses and some have been shamefully spat upon. Some have come home with obvious battle scars while some scars aren’t as clearly visible. And all have been affected and possibly even changed on some level by what they experienced.

Veteran’s Day is a day for the rest of us to honor all of them and remember and thank them for what it is that we have – our lives and our freedom.
